Static Image

For literacy, we had to choose a static image and answer a few questions about it. We also had to explain what we thought static images were.

Static Images are photos that do not move. They can be images, paintings, signs, posters or any visual object that doesn't move.

Describe what the photo is about: The photo is about a lonely/isolated tree that has grown in the sea.

How does the photo make you feel? It makes me feel good to see a simple but nice view.

What is your interesting/unique about your photo? The photo is nice and simple but effective and it seems as it is a mirrored image. It also stands out among the blue sea.

100 Word Story

Driving along the muddy road with my brother wasn't the most pleasant trip but it was better than going through the forest, with who knows what living there. “Slow down!!!” I scream at Zane. “You’re going to make us get stuck in a dip!” But no, he wouldn't listen. Racing through the mud, a mix of bugs and dirt splashed up onto the windscreen. Suddenly, Zane screeches to a stop and stares at the animal going past. Once it passes he stomps on the pedal and finds that we haven’t moved. I get out and see that we are stuck.

Farewell Mrs Verry

I have been at Pt England School ever since I was five. That mean's I have known Miss Verry ever since I started. Today the assembly was special. It was a farewell assembly for Mrs Verry. She has helped out with all sorts of things at our school. She has been at our school for a long long time and sadly, she will now be leaving. So bye Miss Verry and THANKS FOR ALL YOU'VE DONE! We hope you have a great retirement time and we will never forget you!

Thai Fish Cakes!

Have you ever tasted Thai Fish Cakes?
There DELICIOUS!

Our Year 5 & 6 Extension Group entered a competition called Let's Cook With Parmco. Each week there is a different meal to  make a you can probably guess what we had to make this time! That's right! Thai Fish Cakes!

Firstly we got into groups and in my group was (from left to right) Jouan, Tyla-Marie , Iron, Gloria, Sela and me! Making this was very easy but that's because I didn't do much (I was taking photos). But it did look easy from what I was doing.

If I could make this for my family I would. My mum has been telling me to make it!

20 Hour Famine 2012

"Drop me off here", I told my mum as we pulled up to the school. I was ready to go HARD OUT FOR THE HUNGRY! I think?

Dragging my bag to the library I could hear shouts from the other kids already there. I shoved my bag to the side of room and got out my drink. Toreka then handed me a name tag for me to decorate. "Hey, I'm in team yellow!" I shouted as Gloria came closer. "Me too!" she replied. After this we watched a few short clips.


These clips were of the children we were helping from Mali and Niger. One movie was about a 12 year old girl named Donkii and the other about a 11 year old boy called Salissou. There were also other clips shown too. 


Donkii loves to pound millet but she worry's that they won't have enough millet to eat. She also helps prepare the food with her mother. Normally her family would harvest around 60 bags of millet but unfortunately the rain season did not come so now they only have 6 bags of millet. This may last them 2 or maybe 3 months. That's not enough though. 


Salissou loves his sister and will do anything for her. Before sunrise he goes out into the bush collecting locusts. The locusts eat the millet which leaves nothing for Salissou and his family. He also carries his sister, Rashida, 10 km every fortnight to the nearest health centre. There she is treated for malnutrition by World Vision staff. It is very hard for him and it takes him 2 and a half hours.


Between every clip Mrs Tele'a asked questions for team points. Finally after a while we went into the hall and started our activities.
